Maya Zapata
Maya was born November 30 1981. Her first participation in cinema was at the age of three in the Mexican feature "El Tres de Copas" along side Alejandro Camacho and Humberto Zurita. At the age of six she obtained her first roll in the film "Gringo Viejo" starring Jane Fonda and Gregory Peck.
As a child actress Maya Zapata was actively in theater and television; as part of the cast of "Pinocchio" and "Cuentos de Cri-Cri" and in the TV shows "Super Ondas" and "Cerezo Rojo".
As a teen, Maya participated in the films "Santuario", "Francisco Gotilla", Un Dios para si mismo", "Santitos", La Otra Conquista" and "La Ley de Herodes". Her first major motion picture involvement was in director Gerardo Tort's film "De la Calle" which garnered for her the prestigious Ariel award for best actress in 2001.
In 2003 she starred and won recognition as best actress in the Guadalajara Film Festival for "El Mago".
Maya Zapata continues to project her internationally successful career, most recently as part of the North American production "Bordertown" alongside Jennifer Lopez.
